Although the rules of Inka Trail Expeditions, says that reservations must be made five days before, we recommend you make your reservation well in advance, the average peak indicates that 90 days before departure and there’s no room, this because it can only be 500 people per day, just so you can keep from erosion and pollution of the road network and the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
We will pick you up from your hotels at 5:50 a.m. to take you to the train station located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and begin the Inca Trail tour. On the route we will be able to see majestic snow-capped mountains and farmland.
After an hour and a half of travel we will arrive at Ollantaytambo to board the train that will take us to km. 104 (Chachabamba at 2200 masl), place where we will begin the ancestral path of the Incas, visiting in this place the archaeological group of Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy that are hidden in the semi tropical forest, we will ascend the mountain appreciating spectacular landscapes of flora and fauna.
to after three hours of walking approximately arrive at the archaeological group of Wiñayhuayna (2,650 masl), we will also visit this archaeological complex that was discovered in 1942 by the Peruvian archaeologist Julio C. Tello, a very beautiful Inca construction that is located in the Vilcabamba mountain range according to the studies carried out by archaeologists they call it Machu Picchu in small size because of the distribution similar to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
this place shows a great example of what agriculture was like in the time of the Incas we will observe a large number of circular terraces along its slopes where the Incas could plant their products, the name comes from an orchid that abounds in the area and in Spanish means “eternally young” we will have a short break in this place and take advantage of the time to have lunch, Wiñayhuayna has more than 20 buildings one of them is called the Temple of the Rainbow also known as the Temple of Fertility, we will continue with the tour towards the viewpoint of Intipunku (Sun Gate), on the tour you can see a diversity of flora such as orchids, ferns, mosses, etc.
After an hour we will finally arrive at Inti Punku or Sun Gate, it is one of the most impressive viewpoints of Machu Picchu 1 km from the archaeological group, after a short break and taking some photographs, finally you will take the Machu Picchu tourist bus towards the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night in a hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, according to the time on your entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, in coordination with the guide, you must take the bus up from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (altitude 2450 m.a.s.l) which takes approximately 30 minutes to climb, at the time scheduled with the guide a day before, you will have your guided tour of approximately 2 hours in the Inca citadel visiting the most interesting areas such as: the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the famous Intihuatana where the wise Incas tied the sun on the winter solstice in June, the Cemeteries, squares, stairways and fountains.
If you wish, you can request entry to the Huaynapicchu Mountain or Machupicchu Mountain. This entrance ticket will allow you to enter Machupicchu twice so that you can re-enter Machupicchu after your guided tour or if you wish, you can climb one of the mountains mentioned. This entrance has an additional cost, please consult with our travel agents.
Finally, we will return by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to take our train back to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 9:00 p.m.
