Canoeing on the Apurímac River – River Rafting: This trip is considered one of the best in the world according to the “World Class Rivers”. We started the trip from Cusco, we drive along the river Apurimac during the 4 hrs. About 55 km, we are going to start crossing rapids class III, IV and V to The ultimate in boating is the degree VI, and this is reserved only for adventurers and well-trained experts. The route in Apurimac river is very demanding and requires total concentration. There will be a safety kayak as a companion per every raft, provides the necessary quiet in case of any mishap.

Those familiar with the Apurimac always say it’s him who’s boss, so the river deserves all the respect possible. No precaution is more for those who dare to venture into its waters. Among the wildlife in this remote and isolated canyon we find river otters, wild cats, foxes, torrent ducks.etc.

Cusco – Huallpachaca Bridge – Las Paltas – Apurimac River

To start this 3-day rafting adventure on the Apurimac River, we will pick you up from your hostel or hostels in Cusco at an agreed time in the morning. We will board our tourist transport and then begin our journey to the Huallpachaca Bridge. The trip will take us about 4 hours. During the trip, we will reach an altitude of 4,100 meters above sea level. Then we will descend to 2,100 meters above sea level.

This is where the Huallpachaca Bridge is located. We will also enjoy our lunch. Afterwards, our specialized rafting guide will give us an explanation about the precautions we should take into account during rafting (first aid) and about the levels of the Apurimac River, which are levels I and II.

After the brief explanation, we will prepare to begin our first rafting trip for a period of 2 hours. At the end of the adventure we will set up camp at “las Paltas” and settle in to have a hot drink and then enjoy our dinner around a warm campfire.

Apurimac River – Mine Camp – El Purgatorio – Las Tres Marías

Our second day will begin with a delicious breakfast at 7:00 in the morning, then we will pack up our camp, and then we will prepare to start rafting through the rapids of levels III and IV of the river. In fact, during the rafting we may encounter high levels of the Apurimac River VI (the high levels of the Apurimac River require previous experience). If this happens instead of rafting we will go for a walk, and then continue on level III known places (mine camp and El Purgatorio), level IV is found in Las Tres Marías.

After having passed Las Tres Marías level IV flow we will stop to enjoy our lunch at approx. 1:30 p.m. We will then continue with the rapids of levels III, IV through V.

Finishing the levels at the Apurímac River around 4:30 in the afternoon we set up camp, settled in and prepared some games while we had dinner.

Apurimac River – Kunyac Bridge – Cusco

Our third and last day of adventure, we will start with a delicious breakfast very early, to begin our journey with strength through the fastest levels of class III and V. while we enjoy incredible mountain panoramas, passing by different attractive points such as the famous labyrinth, toothache, your first, the babalua and the last smile, are the obligatory tourist points to visit during the tour. After finishing, we will continue traveling through the rapids of the Apurimac River.

Our rafting adventure will end at the Kunyac Bridge. To say goodbye, we will have an outdoor barbecue on the banks of the spectacular Apurimac River, saying goodbye and thanking for the great adventure we had. After finishing, we will board our transport to return to the city of Cusco arriving approximately at 5:30 in the afternoon.

In the city of Cusco, our great service ends.
